Vox Stars Team

Lainey Vox-
BA (HONS) Popular Music, First-Class- Vox Stars Founder,
Lead Singing & Performance Coach, Events Manager & Performer:
Lainey's passion for singing grew from her love of Freddie Mercury’s charismatic stage style and awe inspiring voice. Encompassing this powerful persona into her own performances, she taught herself to sing. She then progressed from voice training at school, to attending the StageQuest voice and performance coaching studio in her early teens. During regular showcases, her powerful voice and colourful image gained her a ‘Rock Chick’ reputation, around the social club circuit. She entered the contest, Edinburgh’s Got Talent (2010) gaining her place in the top five and having her vocal style compared by the Judges to Scaramouche, from the musical ‘We Will Rock You’.

Lainey went onto formal training at Edinburgh College, studying Modern Musicianship (first study voice) from NC to HND level, gaining an overall distinction. During this time, she moved from performing with backing tracks to immersing herself in a variety of bands, playing many exciting venues and, exploring various genres from Rock, Pop and Jazz to Musical Theatre. Additionally, Lainey organised and performed at many successful charity and talent showcase events, demonstrating her passion for singing and encouraging herself and her peers to take part in live music performances. Her ‘Rock Chick’ style, with powerful belted notes and bold outfits was carried on into University (Perth UHI) as she performed in classic rock bands and designed her own recital ‘Diva Spectacular’. This was complete with costume changes, light show, artistic backgrounds and a powerful musical journey. At University, she hosted various vocal, performance and music relaxation workshops at educational establishments across Scotland, including Edinburgh College and Queen Margaret University. Furthermore, she used her empathetic insight as a dyslexic vocalist by utilising a variety of memorisation and problem solving techniques, during work placement at Drake Music Scotland and when coaching NC music students. Lainey excelled, gaining a distinction in her teaching module and a First Class BA Honours in Popular Music and Performance.

Since leaving University Lainey has continued to develop her knowledge from her music marketing and E-Business modules by completing an online CPD certified Diploma with Distinction in Social Media Marketing. These skills helps Lainey run her own business advertising for both Vox Stars and her own professional singing career. She uses this knowledge and experience to empower her students to promote themselves within the music industry. Furthermore, as part of her own professional development and commitment to the voice, Lainey is currently training to become a Certified Master Coach in the Estill Voice Model and has already gained her Estill Figure Proficiency certification. She has  attended workshops and coaching sessions by leading professionals in the field: Gillian McLaren Scott, Anne Marie Speed and Paul Farrington. Additionally, Lainey enhances her knowledge through attending the latest online courses such as Total Vocal Freedom, voice workshops and conferences such as the British Voice Association's: A Weekend for Singers & Singing Teachers.  She was also qualification verified via the Music Teachers UK site, a Musicians Union member, PVG checked and First Aid certificated.
